　　While there isn’t a clear answer, some scientists believe that earworms are linked to how the brain processes memory and emotion. Earworms can be caused by a catchy song you heard recently, but sometimes, a song may suddenly appear in your head even when you haven’t heard it for a long time. In this case, earworms are often triggered by certain memories. While most earworms are associated with positive experiences, they can also result from negative ones. For example, a song you listen to during a stressful period might pop up later when you are taking an exam.
