The quokka is native to Rottnest Island and can be found all over the island. It is a marsupial—a group that also includes the kangaroo, the koala, and the wombat. Like most marsupials, the quokka is most active at night and eats grasses and leaves. Covered in brown fur, each one can weigh up to five kilograms and typically lives for about 10 years. One obvious feature a quokka shares with a rat is a tail with little hair.
